Three years ago, I began riding a dirt bike. Yep, the motorized kind. It performs just like a big mountain bike, but now the uphill is just as fun as the downhill! Even after 2 knee surgeries and a broken hand, my love of the bike is ever increasing. I have new perspective and respect for the motorsport industry. I have met so many new great, caring, sharing, quality folk. I see trails in a new way. I see that everyone can share and respect trails. There are many different ways to play, and all are worthy, even the ones with a motor involved.
Idaho City, June 5-6, 2010. The ISDE National Qualifier.
With Tram Bars and hundreds of copies of the Dirt Rider (DR tested, July 2010) articles in tote, I began walking the RV, trailer town that was set up in the heart of Idaho City. The 2 day race is a qualifier for the International Six Day Enduro (ISDE). The annual six day event, held in various locations throughout the world, is a true test of off road skills with over 1200 miles of riding.
I walked up to riders and families congregating, chatting, barbecuing, laughing, sharing experiences and preparing for the next 2 days of endurance riding and camaraderie.
All were receptive as I walked into their temporary home set-ups with some of the best tasting endurance fuel they will ever find. I’d explain that “It’s the perfect compact, delicious, endurance food to stick in your pack, and snack on at checkpoints. Give em a shot. The Dirt Rider boys can’t get enough of them!”
“Hey I’ve read about these, awesome!” They all loved them, of course.
Then there was Dick and his crew of guys, sitting in their camp chairs around their fire, ten of them maybe, and all big flirts. Impressed that a natural and organic food bar would be at a dirt bike event, they were also happy to hear that we do not promote all the recent trail and road closures to motorbike use, and we all agreed that every user of a trail system needs to be a respectful and responsible user. When you’re in California, stop at Dick’s Racing and pick up a bar.
I took up Steve’s dinner invitation, and met a few of his friends, one being Brian Garrahan, who incidentally won the event. We now sponsor Brian with product, who also runs a successful off road riding camp in California, and introduces our bars to his students. Garrahan will help anyone improve their riding, and have a good time.
Brian, the 2010 National AMA Hare Scramble Champion, treats his body as a champ would, he eats all natural, real foods, and being so, loves the natural, organic, and recognizable ingredients in Kate’s bars that keep his energy level high for riding.
We now receive many orders from the folk at the qualifier who love Kate’s bars for the enduring energy they provide. And so, I must share an amazing story from Marie Dewey who first had Kate’s Tram Bar in Idaho City as well, and it too is a story of endurance.
I’m a club member of the Idaho City 100, this is a dirt bike event held once a year in Idaho City as a qualifier for an International Six Days Event.
This event brings on some LONG days, while sitting at the registration desk, someone handed me Kate’s Tram Bar, exhausted and tired, I ate it and was feeling better soon.
A month later I turned 50 years old, starting to put on weight, I decided to start working out.. My trainer suggested protein shakes and protein bars.. I remembered Kate’s Tram Bar I ate a month ago… Found them on the internet.. Ordered them…
I’ve lost 41 pounds in 6 months while eating Kate’s Tram Bars everyday.. It stops my cravings, makes me full, and helps with my digestive system. I simply cut 2 Tram Bars up every morning, just as someone would make their lunch everyday.. Place them in a sandwich bag and carry them everywhere with me. Hungry, feeling down, and out of energy? Take a 1/4 of a tram bar and see what happens!!
My doctor says I’m healthier than I have ever been, I know the 41 pounds helped my health, but I feel the Tram Bar was the real ticket to my weight loss and keeping it off.
I continue to eat Kate’s Tram Bar still everyday.. I’ve had no problem in keeping the weight off. It’s been 7 months now and looking for my next Tram Bar now….
I hope to someday meet you Kate and thank you in person for changing my life..
Marie, like I’ve said before, you Rock!
We love Marie’s story and believe that the right combo of fats, carbs, and protein in Kate’s Tram Bar will keep you satisfied, curb cravings, and hence, not eating more than you need.
We like to be happy and satisfied.
It’s true, Kate’s bars are for everyone!
