Our ambassadors bring a certain ‘light’ to our company. They make us laugh, they make us cry and most of the time they make us giggle with anticipation at their accomplishments. We always like to delve a little deeper into the minds of those we admire, so we decided to create a little segment aptly dubbed: Up Close and Personal.
David McClure is dedicated to say the least. Pounding out hours all summer long with his landscaping company in order to play and “get the goods” all winter, we’re always interested in what this Idaho boy has up his sleeve. He recently checked in from the “off” season digs in Florida over New Years, announcing a his role as the newest Backcountry sponsored rider for Artic Cat as well as retaining a spot as a sponsored racer for Team Artic. Nice work!
What keeps David on top of his game?
“Starting at the end of November I started riding and have been going 4-6 days a week since then. I take a Kate’s bar with me every ride and that’s all I need to keep my energy level high! One ride this year a mechanical issue caused me to have to wait 5 hrs in the cold and my Kate’s bar kept me full while I waited for parts. To keep a fire going in the winter by yourself at 9000 ft, I basically was cutting / gathering wood the entire time and would rest around the fire for 5 minutes and then go gather more!”
And since he’s also been caught spending so many nights in the woods, he’s an expert at the necessities you should have in your pack!
Here are David’s 5 essentials for spending the night out:
Saw (preferred two in case you break one!)
