One day, on our Facebook page, we posted a humble status update asking our community exactly “Who IS Kate?” Throughout the years, you’ve heard us talk about our fearless leader, supporter of community agriculture, and player of all that is worthy of being played. You’ve learned about her Tram Bar roots and how she crafted hippie goodies to sustain her powder jones. You’ve traveled with her on retail store demos, following her progress from ma-and-pa shops (where we still reign strong) to regional Whole Foods venues. And you’ve shared in her pain of blown out knees, and broken bones—the unfortunate repercussions of going big in the outdoors.
But this was the first time we had YOU, our community, tell us “Who is Kate?” And Valentine’s Day seems like the perfect time to unveil what you came up with…
“I really only have one thing to say about Kate—Kate is badass!” –Kirsten C.
“She is a beautiful, inspiring, and motivated woman, following her passions and living life to the fullest!” –Cathy Beloeil
“She’s the woman who once out-rode me on a gnarly mountain bike trail. And who I once saw miles from Teton Pass, in the middle of winter, all by herself, on a high avy day enjoying whiteout conditions. Oh—and she makes the best bars on the market.” –David Fassnacht
“World’s most awesome boss!” –Myndi Franklin (Kate’s Customer Service Guru)
“She was my first big crush when I moved to the mountains a million years ago. Best smile ever!!!” –John Coakley
“I unfortunately only know her through email and few phone conversations, but she is always generous and friendly. She seems to be everywhere that my interest peaks: Klim’s women [gear] tester, Dirt Rider Magazine. Hers bars show up in all the cool places around. They have been the fuel for me-and-my-gang for over five years. It’s no wonder that she is so successful and lives a cool active life. Thank you Kate for letting us know you. Greatest bars ever!” –Mr. Team Micabilly
“I went to UNH with Kate, had a blast! I used to run with her! Such a wonderful person!” –Ken Walters
“Fun ambassador for Teton Valley! Thoughtful, passionate, smart. Oh— and she rides anything on two wheels like she stole it!” – Nate Carey
“The first time I met Kate, she was hitch hiking. I picked her up and took her to her tiny cold-looking cabin in Tetonia. I thought she was a total badass. She lived alone, she was obviously a skier/biker/hiker chic…but there was something more about her. I think she had a shaved head at the time, which made her even more beautiful and powerful in my 23-year-old eyes. I remember thinking, “If I live here long enough, will I become a badass too?” AND I remember when she brought her first batch of “bars” into Barrels and Bins. They were REALLY good! She told me, “You need something to keep you going all day out there. You can just throw one of these in your pocket and keep charging!” And the rest is history….SO very happy for you Kate and I still think you are a total badass!” –Melissa Jentzsch
“I went to school with Kate in Brisbane, Australia in 1991. We hitchhiked around the country on 18-wheelers and still remember it as life’s biggest adventure.” –Heather King Chaves
“Kate’s a good pal of mine that I just haven’t met in person yet.” –Nikki Arcieri LaRochelle (Kate’s ambassador)
And to ALL THIS, she replied…”Wow, friends! I’m blushing. Thanks for all of the love and support. You all are amazing folks!” –Kate
And you are…this proves it! I bet every one of you has an amazing account of stories that make you YOU! Thanks for bringing a little of YOU to Kate’s brand.
