There are days when it feels like winter will never end. I wake up to the endless sea of white outside my window, and it seems like the days of green grass and 70 degree temperatures will never again arrive. With the constant driveway-shoveling, windshield scraping, zipper zipping, sidewalk shuffling (because slipping hurts SO much!), fire building, and so on, sometimes all I can think of are the carefree days of backyard barbecues and flip-flops. It’s not that I don’t love a great powder day (I do!), or sipping hot cocoa by the stove…it’s just that there’s a lot more “dealing” that goes on with winter.
About the time I start to feel worn down by the cold, mother nature  kindly taps me on the shoulder and points out all of the beauty that comes with the winter months. I’ll wake up to find a day where it seems every inch of the earth has been brushed with magical white glitter. The sunshine hits every twig in such a way that I feel like I’m living in some sort of Disney fairytale land.
Here are a few moments in the last day or two where I couldn’t help but be in total awe of my surroundings, and my thoughts of the beach were far, far away.
Picking up the mail at the post office I noticed this branch just covered in teeny-tiny little frost feathers- beautiful!
The coffee shop outside our office. I couldn’t help but smile at the combination of cloud patterns, sparkling branches and the punch of red paint.
Looking back on a recent hike up Mount Glory. The clouds would move every now and again to let the sun peek through making the trees sparkle.
Even the fire hydrant in the parking lot looked festive with it’s winter glitter! Impressive.
Okay, fine. I really do love you, winter. Especially when the sun is out and the powder is deep!
