Introducing Preserve Where You Play
Our Conservation Initiative to Protect the Places That Fuel Adventure
At Kate’s Real Food, we believe great adventures begin with real ingredients and real respect for the outdoors. That’s why we’re proud to introduce “Preserve Where You Play,” our long-term commitment to protecting the land that grows our food and the wild places that bring us to life.
This is more than a sustainability initiative. It’s a promise to give back to the ecosystems that sustain us—through regenerative agriculture, environmental education, and community support.
Why “Preserve Where You Play”?
We’re rooted in the mountains of Wyoming. It’s where our founder, Kate, first discovered the power of clean fuel and the magic of being outside. Today, our organic snack bars are made for adventures big and small, but we know those adventures wouldn’t be possible without healthy landscapes and thriving ecosystems.
Preserve Where You Play is our way of showing up for the land that inspires and nourishes us—so future generations can keep exploring, discovering, and connecting with the wild.
Pillar 1: Preserve the Land That Grows Our Food
Behind every bar we make is a deep respect for where our ingredients come from. But today’s food system faces major threats, from soil depletion to biodiversity loss. We’re stepping up to support a better way forward through regenerative farming and land stewardship.
Here’s how we’re taking action:
-
Supporting Farmers: Supplying organic bars to fuel field days, workshops, and hands-on events hosted by our partners.
-
Driving Innovation: Backing research into regenerative practices that restore soil health and protect long-term food security.
-
Educating Consumers: Helping people understand how sustainable farming impacts everything from food quality to environmental resilience.
Pillar 2: Preserve the Places We Explore
Nature isn’t just a backdrop; it’s the heart of what we do. We’ve partnered with Wyoming State Parks to help maintain the trails, landscapes, and communities that make outdoor access possible.
What we’re doing on the ground:
-
Supporting Communities: Providing snacks for park rangers, trail crews, and restoration teams who care for these landscapes.
-
Inspiring Exploration: Telling the stories of the places we play—and how small actions can help protect them.
Partnering for a Healthier Planet
We’re proud to collaborate with Penn State’s Institute for Sustainable Agricultural, Food, and Environmental Science—a hub for innovation in environmental education.
This partnership brings together research, real-world learning, and industry collaboration to empower the next generation of changemakers.
Partnership highlights include:
-
Co-leading lectures and workshops on sustainability, business, and food systems
-
Exploring how food choices affect people and the planet through collaborative storytelling campaigns
Protecting the Outdoors for the Next Adventure
Studies show that spending just 20 minutes outside can reduce stress and improve mental clarity. But more than that, time in nature helps us reconnect to ourselves, to our communities, and to what really matters.
That’s why Preserve Where You Play is about more than sustainability—it’s about honoring the places that shape us and making sure they remain wild, accessible, and thriving for all.
“Adventures aren’t just about entertainment, they’re about how nature transforms us. Through ‘Preserve Where You Play,’ we’re ensuring the outdoors remains a source of nourishment, connection, and discovery for all.”
— Brittany Thaler, EVP of Marketing at Kate’s Real Food
